I have always, always love and adored, worshiped my daddy (as all girls do!) I love my dad for who he is; not for who I think he should be. He’s always been a good man – a hard worker, supportive father, churchgoer and encourager. Growing up, he was always a bit stingy on the hugs, the tenderness, the lets-sit-down-and-talk-about-our-feelings, but he gave selflessly in love, in providing all that he could for his beloved family. He went to all lengths to make all our dreams and wishes come true! He will always be my heart, my hero and my king.. he’s my daddy!
God knew long before we showed up on this earth that we’d be family. He knew that my dad’s strengths and struggles would come together with my own to create an ever lasting relationship, and it would be a journey. A journey I had never imagined when the man who devoted his life to doing everything possible for his family, fell terribly sick a few years ago, escaping the clutches of death several times during the four months he spent in hospital, but despite it all pulled through! This is life’s challenges and true tests (and not all we see and admire on social media) and God would use these experiences to grow and mold us more and more into the people He created for us to be ultimately. Today my dad is battling real life challenges (which I pray each and every day that he will still be able to overcome)and has never regained his health fully!
Through the years, I’ve come to realize that my Dad has always done his very best, and I’ve discovered how deeply he cares for my brother and I even if he shows it in different ways than one would have hoped or expected of him. I suppose the lesson is to learn and accept your parents for what they are, not what you expect them to be.
There are all kinds of fathers, and yours may be a whole different story. But there is one thing they all share: No matter what their personalities, gifts, struggles, circumstances.. every one of them is your dad, the man that sacrifices it all to be his family’s guide, caretaker, provider and leader.
Dad, I’m blessed and honored to call you my father and my children are blessed with the best grandfather too.. No words can ever describe the love I have for you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being you, for all that you have done and will still do! You will always be my Hero daddy and I love you to infinity and back..
All my LOVE,
